Samantha Moreno has been informed by her school that her scholarship will not be available for her senior year, while her father, retired Sergeant Major Angelo Moreno has discovered he has developed an aneurism sustained during combat operations.
Reunited for the summer break, Samantha describes her recent financial set back with her father.
Determined to get his daughter’s tuition money back, Angelo convinces Samantha to participate in a, invitation only, underground, high stakes game of horseshoes.
Samantha and her father begin a very regimental training program. Becoming overwhelmed with Angelo’s military style of training, Samantha begins to give up on the idea of competing all together.
This defeated attitude is quickly replaced with a new sense of purpose after discovering her father’s current medical condition.
Everything comes to a head when Samantha gets to the finals and has to compete against the arrogant, West Coast Champion, King Lewy. The two battle, toe to toe in a final game to determine who will win the $50,000 and be named champion.
